Skip Counting Safari — 2s, 5s, 10s & Beyond

Ten, twenty, thirty usually comes out like a chant. Counting by threes is where the pauses begin. This 10-page safari set gives children ages 5–7 room to practise both the easy rhythms and the patterns that need more thought.

The sequence starts with 10s and 5s, then brings in 2s, 3s, and 4s as the difficulty increases. Animal tracks, vine number lines, and treasure-chest sequences carry the numbers across the page. Different safari guides appear along the way, leading children through mazes, connect-the-dot paths, and missing-number challenges.

The vine number line is a useful detail to return to. Rather than reciting from memory, a learner can follow each equal jump and see why the next number belongs there. That visual step supports later work with multiplication, and the same skip-counting habits turn up when reading clock intervals or counting groups of coins.

Use a page as a class warm-up, put a sequence card in the car, or choose one counting pattern for a short home session. If a child loses the 3s halfway through, begin again from the last number they know instead of restarting at zero every time; recovering the pattern is part of the practice. The printable PDF lets you revisit a path, and the changing puzzle formats keep repeated counting from sounding like one endless chant.
