Telling Time Workbook — Clocks, Hours & Minutes

“The long hand is on the six” is often the first clue that a child is beginning to read an analog clock rather than guess from its shape. This 10-page workbook helps ages 6–8 connect those moving hands with the digital times they see on appliances and screens.

Practice starts with o’clock times, then moves through half hours, quarter hours, and five-minute intervals. Children read clock faces, draw hands for a stated time, and write the matching digital display. Daily schedule cards bring in AM and PM through breakfast, recess, and bedtime. Bedtime is an especially useful example: 8:00 means something very different in the morning, and children usually have opinions about which one belongs on the card.

Elapsed-time work follows, including two-step word problems. That section is easier if you let the learner mark the starting time first and move forward in manageable jumps. It is not necessary to race from the opening pages to the hardest questions; print a few clocks again if quarter past and quarter to are getting mixed up.

Instructional headers are included on the pages, and the answer keys give adults a quick way to check the work. Use the workbook in sequence for a time unit, or pull out a schedule activity when the concept comes up naturally at home.
